chinese lantern was originally invented over 2000 years ago by the chinese to help battling Generals send messages to one another. Today Chinese celebrate the New Year (January 15th) by launching thousands of Lanterns into the nights sky. Loved by the people of the Far East, its only recently that the lanterns have gained popularity in Europe. Since coming to the UK in the mid 1990′s the lanterns have become more and more popular. Today you can choose from a large range of shapes and many different colours. Whatever the occasion your celebrating, like a wedding or a birthday then there is a lantern to suit. You can choose a football shaped lantern for your child or a romantic heart shaped one for your partner. For the best results you should let your lantern go at night time. Modern lanterns are eco-friendly and are made of enviromentally friendly paper-wood and bamboo. A lit lantern can cuase burns to young children, keep children away from a lit lantern.
